AFTER ALL isa performance about death. It is an appreciation of our vulnerable and courageous existence that uses dance, theater, storytelling and humor to pose the question: How do we deal with the end?
By exploring different funeral rites - those we have, those we have lost and those yet to be invented - choreographer Solène Weinachter confronts us head-on with the transition between worlds. AFTER ALL is a hopeful attempt to create a better kind of space in which we can deal with loss and reflect together on the finite nature of our lives.
ARTISTIC DIRECTION
Solène Weinachter's artistic practice is rooted in the intersection between dance, theater, storytelling, laughter and (supposedly) uncomfortable conversations.
Solène Weinachter trained at the Regional Conservatoire of Lyon and continued her training at the London Contemporary Dance School, where she obtained a BA(Hons) and an MA in Contemporary Dance and Performance. Her experience as a performer informs her choreographic work. It is rooted in the connection with the audience and how this vibrancy shapes each show specifically. Movement combined with her physical and narrative voice has been at the heart of her work since 2013.
As a rehearsal director, performer or creative collaborator, Solène works with a variety of dance and physical theater companies in Europe, including OD Works, Scottish Dance Theatre, Lost Dog, Joan Clevillé, Gecko and Vera Tussing. She is also a founding member of Collective Endeavours, an intergenerational music and dance improvisation collective based in Glasgow, performing in unconventional spaces.
