Whether the delicately echoing electro-acoustic sound of new beginnings, the delicate piano compositions what remains and Hammers, the touchingly sad song Por qué for a lost friend or the siren-like Demons as an invitation to confront one's own dark sides .... all the pieces on the young Costa Rican artist's debut album are truly silent stories. Fragile and gentle, they make the inner harmony of nature audible and tangible; cautious and serious, they seek to give space to tragic experiences and feelings and, opening up carefully, they offer a profound touch through pure sound essence.
The story behind Silent Stories is not so quiet and, above all, impressive:
While still studying at the Instituto Superior de Artes in San Jose , Sofi won prizes as a pianist and joined the Discord server of Norwegian producer Askjell Schon. When she sent him her very first compositions, he invited her to record in his Oslo studio, shortly afterwards she played at the invitation of award-winning composer and producer Ólafur Arnalds at his intimate Berlin performance of OPIA Community and before she knew it, she had entered the studio with producer Miguel Murrieta Vásquez. Since then, she has always found herself in highly talented company on and off stage and with her residence in the middle of Berlin, where the longing for the beauty of nature in her Central American homeland also secretly co-writes her pieces.
