Portraits, BIPoC perspectives and artistic self-expression
Togolese artist Koffi Philippe's work is dedicated to painting portraits with acrylic and sees art as a form of expression, healing and self-empowerment. His works pay tribute to Black bodies, celebrate African culture and deal with questions of identity, visibility and belonging.
On May 31st from 4pm, we invite you to an open painting workshop where individual experiences, memories and perspectives will find their expression on canvas. The workshop is open to everyone and is aimed in particular at BIPoC who would like to explore their history, identity and visibility in a sensitive, creative space.
The focus is on portraiture as a means of self-reflection and artistic positioning. Participants are guided step by step through the process - from initial creative exercises to the realization of their own portrait. Whether it is a self-portrait or a portrait of a significant person, the focus is on the individual approach to art.
The workshop is open to all levels of experience and takes place in an appreciative, respectful atmosphere. We ask for special attentiveness in dealing with the topic, the artist and the people present, as Black experiences, bodies and perspectives are the focus.
