Former factory worker Ingrid Sommer seeks her fortune as pop singer Sunny. When she's not touring the GDR provinces with the Tornados, she lives in a back-house apartment in Prenzlauer Berg. She makes no compromises, neither at work nor in her private life. The men are not gentle with her and she is not gentle with them. Official bodies did not appreciate the emphatically individualistic heroine - the audience, on the other hand, was enthusiastic. Renate Krößner received a Silver Bear at the 1980 Berlinale. (P.M.)
