Three decades after the end of scientific atheism, the film explores the relationship between science and religion in post-communist countries, which are currently being shaken by the war in Ukraine. Interviews and fairy-tale sequences interweave personal stories with the history of democracy and science, creating a unique insight into the history of religious studies and scientific freedom in Northern and Central Eastern Europe.

The film will be followed by a discussion with the director Valerio Severino.
