Something Softens

Puppet theater by Cie l'étendue

In a dark room there is a device reminiscent of a camera obscura. The puppeteer animates a small, fragile string marionette in his hand. In the projection, the image is reversed - it looks as if the puppet is trying to fight gravity, fly upwards and abandon its strings. The audience can adopt different perspectives during the performance and can choose between the illusion in front of and the making-of behind the scenes, although you will never be quite sure what "in front of" and "behind" mean here. In "Something Softens", Renaud Herbin plays with the metaphysical qualities of the puppet as an image for people trying to find their way in life.

Renaud Herbin is a puppeteer and former director of the TJP Strasbourg - Centre Dramatique National d'Alsace. He is known for his distinctive visual language, in which he combines puppetry, poetry, acting, dance, sound and visual elements.

What is the climate impact ticket?

Together with our audience, we at PATHOS theater would like to take responsibility for the climate impact costs of our operations, which are associated with the unavoidable emissions of our theater. The €2 or €6 surcharge on the ticket price goes 100% to the Climate Fair project, which is committed to promoting social and ecological transformation in Germany and here in Munich (e.g. by investing in green electricity systems and energy-saving projects).
