Sommerfest Vorstraße feat. Spittaler Straße

On June 14 and 15, 2024, the "Sommerfest Vorstraße feat. Spittaler Straße" opens Bremen's festival summer for the 45th time. Launched in the 70s as an internal summer barbecue in a student hall of residence, the event has developed over time into the largest festival in Bremen after the Breminale. It always remains non-commercial and aims to keep the prices reasonable for students. The residents of the hall of residence still organize the festival entirely on a voluntary basis and on their own responsibility. Every year, around 6,000 visitors celebrate here on two festival days. Free admission, of course!

TWO DAYS

Musically, everything is open on both days: whether rock or hip hop, ska or singer-songwriter pop, everyone gets their money's worth here. We especially want to offer artists from Bremen and the surrounding area a stage and also give up-and-coming musicians a chance on Friday: The festival will therefore traditionally be opened by a school band. Visitors will be spoiled with the best music and our culinary offer (here to the offer) until late in the evening. On Saturday, the cultural program continues in the afternoon. Poetry slams and children's afternoons are a regular feature, as well as annually changing events such as improv theater, beer yoga and much more. This is followed by seven bands that heat up the atmosphere into the night.

The summer festival is a place of diversity, well-being, acceptance, expression and identification. This means that there is no place for violence, racism, discrimination and abuse in any form. TWO STAGES

Our main stage is located in the inner courtyard: there's always a lot going on here. When our headliners play, we've seen everything from mosh pits and rowing to a wall of death. There has also been a second stage directly on the canal since 2009. In the warm June temperatures, you can chill out here with laid-back music until later in the evening when the atmosphere at the Fleet stage is also boiling.

TWO RESIDENTIAL HOMES

The area where the festival takes place is a normal student residence for the rest of the year. Built in 1975, the Vorstraßenwohnheim is home to 233 students in shared flats of 3 to 8 people. A perfect base for parties and legendary student stories. The "Spittaler Straße" hall of residence has been next door since 2006. It offers 430 places to live and has integrated seamlessly into the dormitory life - since then, the residents of both dormitories have organized the festival together.
