Sommerkino: Sommer vorm Balkon

A tragicomedy by Andreas Dresen about two friends looking for "the one" during a hot summer in Berlin.

When the day draws to a close in the hot Berlin summer, friends, singles and flat-sharing neighbors Nike (Nadja Uhl) and Katrin (Inka Friedrich) like to sit on the balcony late into the night and discuss their problems with men over plenty of wine. Katrin, the unemployed mother of a twelve-year-old, fears that she will soon be too old to look for a job or have a relationship. Nike, on the other hand, seems to have just found the ideal guy in trucker Ronald (Andreas Schmidt).
Romantic big city poetry well balanced between light-footed cheerfulness and a pinch of grim realism in a relationship drama by Andreas Dresen.
Nike and Katrin live in the same house in Prenzlauer Berg. On Nike's balcony, they sip red wine in the evening and talk about longings and desires. Katrin is looking for a husband and father for her son, while Nike is looking for a guy who can grab her. He comes in the form of trucker driver Ronald and soon takes up residence with her. Meanwhile, Katrin falls for the pharmacist across the street and is angry that Ronald is interfering with her relationship with her girlfriend.
Nike and Katrin live in the same house in Prenzlauer Berg. They drink wine on Nike's balcony and dream of the man of their dreams. Someone who will help single mother Katrin. Someone who would help Nike, the mobile geriatric nurse. And then Ronald the trucker crosses their path. A lanky, slightly proletarian taciturn man who is soon lying in Nike's bed. Suddenly the friends are no longer such good friends. Katrin drinks more than is good for her and ends up in hospital after suffering alcohol poisoning.
