Homemade on the turntable - a tea service for two
A teapot, two cups and two saucers

Our 4-day SUMMER course - 4.5 hours per day - on the potter's wheel offers advanced (intermediate) or recent beginners the unique opportunity to take pottery making on the wheel to the next level for a whole week. The shapes that are in focus: a teapot, two cups and two saucers. A milk jug, a sugar bowl or a cookie plate are also possible.

After a short introduction, you will immediately sit down at the potter's wheel in this pottery course.
In level 2, you will be taught how to cone and center up to 1 kg of clay and how to make particularly wide vessels such as plates. Centering 500g of clay should already have been learned once and no longer pose a major problem for you. Attending a level 1 course in our studio is not a prerequisite.
You will also be shown and practiced how to "break up" the clay and "pull up" walls, and your knowledge will be expanded. We turn a beak "off the hump". You will learn how to turn the correct and suitable lid. You will trim your vessels, attach handles and beaks and get to know engobes.

In the course with a maximum of five participants at the potter's wheel, you will receive intensive supervision from two trainers to produce an entire tea service on the potter's wheel.

The course fee includes the cost of materials and the firing and glazing of your products with a transparent glaze. There are no additional costs.

Tuesday to Friday:

Over the course of two days, you will become familiar with the wheel, learn how to center up to 1 kg of clay using coning, how to break up and form walls, and how to turn vessels. You will turn a teapot with lid, two cups and two saucers or small plates. We turn a beak for your teapot "off the hump".
On the third and fourth day, you turn the pots off. Trimming the vessels means refining and perfecting the shape of the vessel. You will also learn how to attach beaks, handles and grips and how to decorate the vessels with engobe. Engobe is colored clay that is applied to the vessel in a leather-hard state with a brush.
After the first firing (= bisque firing), we glaze your creations with a transparent glaze for you.
