Our 4-day SUMMER course - 4.5 hours per day - on the wheel offers beginners AND advanced (intermediate) potters the unique opportunity to take their pottery making to the next level over 4 days on the wheel.

The forms that are in focus: Bowl and plate. Both require more intensive study when it comes to the size and stability of these types of vessels.

After a short introduction, you will immediately sit down at the potter's wheel in this pottery course.
In level 1, you will learn how to center the clay and make a vessel. In level 2, you will be taught how to cone and center up to 1 kg of clayand how to make particularly wide vessels - plates.
You will also be taught how to "break open" the clay and "pull up" the walls and expand your knowledge. You will trim your vessels and get to know engobes.

In the course with a maximum of five participants at the wheel, you will receive intensive supervision from two trainers to make five to eight bowls and plates on the potter's wheel.

The course fee includes the cost of materials and the firing and glazing of four products with a transparent glaze. If you would like to have more pieces fired and glazed, this costs € 8 per piece.

Tuesday to Friday:

Over two days, you will be familiarized with the wheel, learn how to centre up to 1 kg of clay using coning, how to break up, shape walls and turn vessels. We will focus in particular on the challenges of creating bowls and plates.
On the third and fourth day you will turn the vessels. Trimming the vessels means: the vessel shape is refined and perfected. You will also learn how to decorate the vessels with engobe. Engobe is colored clay that is applied to the vessel in a leather-hard state with a brush.
After the first firing (= bisque firing), we will glaze your creations with a transparent glaze for you.
