Free, outdoors and under palm trees: this summer, the DURCHLÜFTEN music festival will once again transform the Humboldt Forum's large Schlüterhof courtyard into a lively meeting place for sound, rhythm and culture.

Over four weekends, music from all over the world will radiate from the stage: from the raw energy of Mexican cumbia punk to the hypnotic groove of Kenyan dodo blues, from the electrifying syncopation of Congolese soukous to the powerful messages of Afrofuturist big bands.

Japanese folk with a Caribbean influence, soulful jazz, hip-hop and the joy and resilience of the Frafra gospel round off this celebration of sound - boundless, multi-perspective and irresistibly danceable!

Son Rompe Pera (Mexico)

The members of the band Son Rompe Pera from Mexico City were already on stage with their father as children, accompanying him musically on the traditional Mexican marimba at local events.

Today, they are at the forefront of the contemporary international cumbia scene - taking what they learned in their youth to a new level and exploring the full potential of the marimba.

Their unique sound is the result of a typical youthful rebellion: as teenagers, they initially turned their backs on the marimba and played in various punk and psychobilly bands. They have now come full circle and combine the marimba with their rock influences to create a fresh, powerful new interpretation.
