Sonderausstellung „Ulrike Theusner - Schattenseiten“

From April 10, the Museum August Macke Haus in Bonn will be showing a comprehensive exhibition of Ulrike Theusner as the first solo presentation of a contemporary artist. In her colorful, expressive works, Ulrike Theusner (*1982, lives and works in Weimar and Berlin) deals with the big city experience of generations X to Z, the world of theater and nocturnal amusements, nature far removed from digital noise, and people themselves. The spontaneous-looking motifs she captures in vibrant strokes open up a kaleidoscopic view of our modern society, which at second glance often turns out to be a gloomy, deceptive vision. In doing so, she chooses themes that also fascinated August Macke and the Expressionists. At the same time, she uses a similarly intense use of color as Macke, which, however, forms a deliberate antithesis to what she depicts.
