Sonic Interventions live at Gaswerk Music Days 2025
Sonic Interventions is a transdisciplinary, diasporic-futurist ensemble based in Berlin. Formed in 2020 out of weekly jam sessions on Tempelhofer Feld, the group has since become one of the city's most acclaimed underground jazz collectives. Their inclusive live shows move fluidly between meditation and trance, rising into heavy grooves where traditional African and Latin American rhythms meet urban genres like Hip Hop, Trap, and House. Their music draws on poetry, dance, and themes inspired by the cosmos, ancient alchemy, and world mythologies.

Their debut album, Do You Remember?, released in November 2024 on Agogo Records, is a powerful meditation on memory, healing, and diasporic identity. Blending spiritual jazz, desert blues, house, and spoken word, the album captures the raw energy of their improvisational sessions and has been widely acclaimed for its narrative depth and sonic diversity.

In recognition of their groundbreaking work, Sonic Interventions received three nominations at the 2025 Deutscher Jazzpreis: for Do You Remember? as Newcomer of the Year, for Live Act of the Year, and for Large Ensemble of the Year

Afrosonic Lineage - in collaboration with Nyege Nyege Festival

The first festival date highlights artists from the Nyege Nyege sphere alongside other African and local voices. Whether drawing from ancestral traditions or exploring Afrofuturistic frequencies, dusting off archival tapes or reimagining sounds from Africa and its diasporas, each artist leaves a distinct mark on the arc connecting African pasts and futures.

Gaswerk Music Days (12.07. - 19.07.) is the summer music festival organized by Gaswerksiedlung Berlin and taking place in its lush gardens, BLOCK1 event space, and creative studios. The event unites experimental electronics, African sounds, jazz, noise, avant-pop, kraut, improvisation and dance music under its "Radical Live Music" flag, binding and crossing genres in a program with over 20 acts on 2 stages.
