Sonntagsführung durch die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek

In the organizer's words:

Visit the German National Library - the memory of the nation!

On an informative tour of our building in Leipzig, you will learn why the German National Library is so called and what distinguishes it from other libraries.

Join us as we explore the listed library building, which also houses the German Music Archive. You will see our various old and new reading rooms as well as the music foyer.

A highlight of the tour is our large meeting room with the fully preserved Imperial Library from 1848/49, a collection of 4,600 volumes. Representatives of the German book trade donated them to the National Assembly meeting in Frankfurt - with the recommendation that an Imperial Library be established. The National Assembly failed. You can find out what happened to the collection on our guided tour.

Come and see for yourself!
