The day begins satisfactorily for M and W, the hard-working clerks in the subdivision of the Office of Assignment. They classify the deceased sensibly and correctly. But then they receive boxes of certificates from Sophie Taeuber-Arp, who suddenly died in an accident. Which drawer does this curious woman fit into?

Sophie Taeuber-Arp, born January 19, 1889, was a painter, weaving artist, performance artist, dancer, Dadaist, costume designer, furniture designer, architect, interior designer, lecturer, hostess and campaigner for the modern arts. The police report stated: "Sophie Taeuber-Arp, died January 13, 1943 from carbon monoxide poisoning. Occupation: housewife."

Excerpts from letters, projection mapping, figures, masks and acting paint a theatrical picture of Sophie and her ability to devote herself to art in all things with Dadaesque-surreal freedom.

The production is based on research and conceptual exploration carried out by Franziska Braegger, Len Shirts and Roland Sproll. This work was made possible by a work grant from the Canton of St. Gallen.

The production is a cooperation with E-Werk Freiburg and Radio Dreyeckland and is currently supported by the Cultural Office of the City of Freiburg im Breisgau, the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg Foundation, the Landesverband Freier Tanz- und Theaterschaffende Baden-Württemberg with funds from the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts, the Office for Culture of the Canton of St. Gallen/Swisslos and the Cultural Office of the City of St. Gallen.
