In her upcoming solo exhibition, Sophie Utikal presents a new cycle of works about her impressions of her first year of life as a mother. The clocks tick differently now, because her world is shaped by the needs of a small child. However, the most difficult thing for Utikal is not to constantly readjust to the child, but to detach herself from it again. And even if it is only a matter of hours, getting back to herself or what is left of herself. The five new and hand-sewn textile works in the Neuer Kunstverein Gießen report on this ongoing search.
