In the broad landscapes of Lusatia, between lignite mines and rapeseed fields, where many villages end in -itz and people ride horses at Easter, the younger generations ask themselves: What does being Sorbian mean to me? Sorbian and queer - is that possible? What future does Sorbian culture have? Can culture only be preserved if it is protected from innovation? Or is there another way? We will address this question in the short film program with four films by Sorbian filmmakers. The program will be followed by a discussion with the directors.

SE PADA is a musical, experimental short film that deals with the experience, recovery and survival of the Sorbians and negotiates areas of tension such as passing and emerging, speaking and silence, transformation or despair.

KŘIŽERKI / EASTER RIDERS

Can women ride horses at Easter? If they want to... But the answer is not that simple, because in the Sorbian tradition of Easter riding, men have "always" had the leading role. Johanna questions this custom, talks to her family and friends and tries to find a new balance between tradition and equality. The first Sorbian women's rap collective "Kolektiw Klanki", in which Johanna is also involved, lends the film a fresh female musical voice of the new Sorbian generation.
