Dance performance by DeLaVallet Bidiefono

In his brilliant production, choreographer DeLaVallet Bidiefono (Republic of Congo) dedicates himself to the prophetess Kimpa Vita. She campaigned for the independence of her country and fought against oppression and the predecessors of the political colonizers: the missionaries. With eruptive power, the dancer Florence Gnarigo embodies the martyr who was arrested for heresy as a witch ("Sorcière"), accused and burned at the stake in 1706.

Featuring Florence Gnarigo (Benin) as Kimpa Vita, singer Dina Mialinelina (Madagascar), and Benoît Lugué (France) on electric bass, this powerful dance performance with a rock flair is a tribute to strong women-past and present.

DeLaVallet Bidiefono a commencé sa carrière de danseur à Brazzaville, où il a également fondé la compagnie Baninga et l'Espace Baning'art. L'artiste de renommée internationale tours le monde entier et vit aujourd'hui entre Paris et Brazzaville.
