Swing and New Orleans jazz with the "Soulfood Strutters"

The band from Kassel and Bad Hersfeld presents their new program "The music of Louis Armstrong".
They serve up a journey through jazz history, dedicated to the uncrowned "King Of Jazz".
The finest swing and authentic New Orleans jazz with many classics and masterpieces from the swing era and the very early days of jazz.

Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong was born on 04.08.1901 in New Orleans and left the city on 06.07.1971 in New York. He had a decisive influence on the development of jazz and is considered one of the most important musicians of the 20th century.

In their new program, the Soulfood Strutters play classics from the repertoire of Armstrong's musically most important projects, the Hot5 and Hot7 from the period 1925-28. These are regarded as the first jazz recordings in which the soloists were given more room to improvise and paved the way artistically for later jazz styles. And titles from the "Armstrong All Stars" from the 1940s to the late 1960s are also skillfully interpreted by the Soulfood Strutters.

This means: good-mood jazz with a good pinch of blues feeling and rousing solos from the musicians. You can look forward to pieces such as "Struttin' with Some Barbecue", "Basin Street Blues", "Ain't Misbehavin'", "St. Louis Blues" and many more!

The five musicians of the Soulfood Strutters are known from a whole series of bands that have been playing throughout Germany for years. These include formations such as "Sidewinder Lounge", "Hot Four", the "Hannes Hirth Trio", "Level Eleven" and the "Blue Moon Orchestra".
