Sound of Zagrosian - Workshopreihe zu kurdischer und persischer Musik

In the organizer's words:
Once again this year, the "Sound of Zagrosian" workshop series will be holding workshops on Kurdish and Persian song, rhythm and melody under the direction of professional musicians Milad Mohammadi, Sheyda Ghavami and Simon Tressin from May 30 to June 1, 2025 - this time at the newly opened Inanna Music Academy.
Kurdish and Persian traditional songs have a special significance, as they have been shaped differently from region to region by decades of musical influences from Persian, Arabic and Turkish. "Sound of Zagrosian" is therefore a musical journey through Kurdistan and Iran, taking into account the Persian, Kurdish, Gilaki (East Iranian) and Mazanderani cultures. The songs are sung in various Zagrosian languages. The languages represented are Sorani and Kermanci as the Kurdish language, Farsi as the Persian language and Mazanderani and Gilaki as the language of the people of the same name in Iran. The lecturers speak the language of the participants from these different countries (Persian, Turkish, Arabic, Kurdish), among others.
Women's songs are forbidden in Iran. The workshops are therefore aimed primarily at female participants. The final concert is also dedicated to Iranian women. However, people of all cultural backgrounds are also welcome: Everyone who wants to get to know Kurdish and Persian musical traditions is invited. We look forward to seeing you and to a creative weekend!

Inanna e.V. is a non-profit organization based in Cologne with activities throughout Germany. Our mission: to touch people with music, connect cultures and make voices audible - especially those that have been silenced for far too long.
