In the last edition of Film & Music 2024, we present 18 short films by those who have achieved great things and have been too little heard and seen. Among them are six films by Mary Ellen Bute - pioneer of American animated film: Synchromy No. 2 (1936), Tarantella (1940), Abstronic (1952), Rhythm in Light (1934), Synchromy No. 4 (1937-1938), Mood Contrasts (1953). Nine films by Alice Guy - the world's first female director and author of the first fictional film: Pierrette's Escapades (1900), Serpentine Dance (1900), Danse Excentrique (1902), Comment monsieur prend son bain (1903), Avenue de l'Opéra (1900), Ocean Studies (1906), Dance of the Seasons "Winter, Snow Dance" (1900), At the Floral Ball (1900), Danse du Papillon (1900). The program also includes The Nose (1963) by Clair Parker - animator and inventor of the pinscreen and pinscreen arts. Last but not least , "Anna Wackelt" (1984) by Ashley Hans Scheirl and Ursula Pürrer - icons of Austrian queer and experimental film.

Music: Pausa a Pausa

For the musical accompaniment, the electronic improvisation trio Pausa a Pausa is teaming up with drummer Sara Neidorf. This collaborative project performs live soundtracking of silent and experimental films and conjures up idiosyncratic and energetic improvisation sessions.
