In light of the spectacular SIGNA bankruptcy, this panel will discuss artistic, political and civic forms of urban resistance. Based on the documentary Speculating on the Void about an intervention in a vacant SIGNA building in Berlin, artists, activists and academics will talk about speculative vacancy, transformative strategies and collective appropriation. With contributions from Jakob Margit Wirth (Parasite Estate), Jonas Jarass (Bündnis Freiraum) and Luise Willer (FU Berlin, tbc), we ask: What are we waiting for - and how can we begin to rethink the city?
