The big band program "Let's Get Out of Here" by Dresden composer Mathis Nicolaus builds up and destroys musical expectations in compositions, some of which are performed for the first time. Stories are told in expansive improvisations, contrasting with the fully utilized polyphony of the jazz orchestra. The conceptual leitmotif of "Let's Get Out of Here", which was created during the coronavirus pandemic, is now more relevant than ever in the wake of the general shift to the right.
