Delve deeper into the turbulent times of the play ENGEL IN AMERIKA at Schauspiel Köln, set in the midst of the AIDS pandemic of the 1980s. The important role of lesbian care work and solidarity during this time often remains invisible. Together we want to discover these often overlooked stories and bring them to light.
In the workshop in the archive of the Cologne Women's History Association, we invite you to go in search of clues together: You will gain exciting insights into research on lesbian commitment and AIDS and have the opportunity to work with original material from the estate donation of a contemporary witness and activist from the 1980s - a special highlight!
The focus will be on questions such as: How can lesbian or queer historiography succeed? How can valuable material be donated, archived and made accessible for future generations? And how can we continue and remember queer history with dignity?
The workshop is suitable as an informative supplement to the visit to the theater, but can also be experienced independently of it.
