In the organizer's words:

This is how funk works, this is how funk must be. 30 years and not a bit quiet.
The band has existed in its original line-up of Oliver Spiess (guitar duo Farnbach & Spiess, Dillberg) and Johannes Voltz (Merlons, Dillberg) since 1995.
Stephan Kraus and Johannes Voltz played in Wolfgang Haffner's Workshop Groove Band. Founding a funk band together was an obvious choice and the founding members Marin Alic and Oliver Spiess were quickly found.
The band played regularly in different line-ups on the region's stages until 2012. Many different singers joined the band, initially Michelle Reber and Micky Wörlein and later Stephanie Pop and Daniela Kurz or Claudia Spiridigliozzi in between.
The Funkateers were repeatedly supported on the wind instruments by outstanding musicians such as Stefan Koschitzki, Lutz Häfner, Markus Riesbeck, Norbert Emminger, Norbert Nagel, Andre Lobanov and Tom Brüderer.
For the st. katharina open air, the old youthful sins band is coming back together and will be getting down to work with their unique Funkateers groove of sophisticated funk and soul music.
