Jaap Blonk and Jasper Stadhouders have known each other for many years. They improvised for years in various ad hoc combinations, whereupon Jaap had the idea of forming his own band for the first time in a long time called "Jaap Blonk's Retirement Overdue" with Jasper Stadhouders, Miguel Petrucelli on guitars and Frank Rosaly on drums. After many concerts and a double CD with this band, a duo with Jaap and Jasper was inevitable. And now the time has finally come! Jaap and Jasper are both extremely idiosyncratic improvisers and composers who, by definition, step outside the box with convincing, forceful impulsiveness. Both have a gigantic spectrum of dynamics, textures and contrasts at their disposal. "After years of playing together, this duo can only be a festive explosion of musical vitality." (Jaap Blonk)

Critic Hans-Jürgen Lenhart describes Jaap Blonk 's work in Jazzthetik magazine as follows: "He roars and whispers, wheezes and pukes, coughs and snorts, rambles and is silent, stutters and mocks. He arrests the consonants and makes you feel the primal sounds from which language has developed. He uses his body, plays with language. Jaap Blonk, free improvising vocalist, a mad professor from the language laboratory?" ... That's all you really need to know!

Jasper Stadhouders is the unrepentant guitarist/bassist of Amsterdam's wildly improvised and wonderfully confrontational Cactus Truck. He plays guitar, bass and mandolin in bands such as PolyBand, Blood Cloud, Spinifex, Made to Break, Shelter, Balconies, Bazooka, Bacchanalia, Practical Music, CP Unit, Christian Marien Quartet and many more. He is described as an improviser, composer, bandleader and concert organizer. Jasper is also part of the Amsterdam-based music collective Stichting Doek. He can be heard on over 30 releases on labels such as Trost, Not Two, TryTone and Audiographic.
