Come with us on a short walk through the time of the ancients in the old town of Astnide. Where Limbecke & Berne flowed together, thick walls protected the town and the monastery and emperors and kings passed through the Kettwig Gate with their entourages. Feel the breath of the past and let the night watchman tell you how things were in old Essen, when the golden Madonna was carried through the streets, the ladies prayed in the monastery and all four city gates were firmly locked at night.
