Freedom of expression is a human right that allows people to express their thoughts and opinions freely and without fear. However, according to surveys, more and more people feel that they cannot say everything in public. At the same time, hate speech and the spread of fake news are on the rise, especially on social media. How can the important asset of freedom of expression be preserved - and yet effective action be taken against hate speech and disinformation? Mayor Dr. Florian Janik, Martina Mittenhuber (Head of the Nuremberg Human Rights Office) and journalist Oliver Mayer-Rüth will discuss this in the new format of the Democracy Today workshop.

The Werkstatt Demokratie heute is a discussion group that regularly organizes events to address socio-political issues, ruptures in our community of solidarity, shared areas of responsibility and the changing understanding of society and democracy.
