In the organizer's words:
In THE GÄLLERY - Space for Photography, the exhibition provides multi-layered insights into the photographs of feminist avant-garde artists who radically question the role of women in art and society and thus seek to establish an alternative image of women from a female perspective. The emergence of new media - photography, film and video - enabled these artists to develop new, spontaneous forms of expression and present female identities in a multifaceted way.
THE GÄLLERY is the space for constantly changing exhibitions of the Staatsgalerie's historical photo collection and for contemporary photographic art. It facilitates collaborations with national and international photo collections and actors in the city of Stuttgart.
