STARDUST – NEW INSPIRED: From Beethoven to Bono to Bowie live in Köln

Complexions means "face colors". The former soloists of the famous Alvin Ailey Company, Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, gave their own dance company this name very deliberately.
The ensemble, founded 30 years ago, was to offer an artistic home to a wide variety of dancers - regardless of body size, skin color or diversity. The experiment succeeded. Thanks to their uncompromising mix of
techniques, styles and cultural influences, Complexions Contemporary Ballet has become the hottest modern dance company in New York and is currently regarded as one of the most extraordinary, individual and diverse ensembles in the world. In Germany, it already caused a sensation in 2019 and 2022 at selected venues in Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt and Cologne.

The unique range of influences and styles can also be found in the new, expanded program "STARDUST - NEW INSPIRED", which will be performed exclusively at the Philharmonie from 22 to 27 July 2025 as part of the "36th Cologne Summer Festival". In it, the 16 exceptional artists of Complexions Contemporary Ballet will perform a dance homage to three musical "great moments" of their respective times: the classical composer Ludwig van Beethoven, the Irish rock band U2 with its charismatic singer Bono and the dazzling pop icon David Bowie.
