Stasi FC (Dokumentarfilm)

In the late 1970s, Stasi boss Erich Mielke took control of GDR soccer in order to bring his favorite club, BFC Dynamo, to the top of the GDR's top division. Through manipulation and intimidation, the club wins ten championship titles in a row. This documentary film sheds light on how the secret police used soccer as a tool of power and influenced the lives of players, coaches and fans. With interviews with contemporary witnesses and rare archive material, the film grippingly shows the intertwining of sport and politics in the GDR.
