Participatory theater - right in your neighborhood!
In May 2025, MiR.LAB will transform the streets and houses of Gelsenkirchen's Neustadt district into the stage for a galactic spectacle: The BaRockOpera. A play full of spaceships, stars and alien planets - and YOU can be a part of it!

We are looking for people of all ages who want to help shape this unique city project and take to the stage themselves - we need your help! And the highlight: three live bands will rock the stage with us. In the tradition of great festivals and touring theater troupes, a play will be created that transforms the streets of Gelsenkirchen into an intergalactic adventure - with a story that tells of distant galaxies and yet is set very close to home. Join in and become part of our city spectacle!

WHAT:
Writing and play workshop for Gelsenkirchen's BaRockOpera. What if the church in Neustadt was actually a UFO landing pad? And a wormhole lurks on the corner of Bokermühlstraße? But isn't that already the case? At stattWerkSTADT, we go out into the streets of Gelsenkirchen and rewrite life as a story of spaceships and stars. We eavesdrop on conversations and expand them into play texts. Until May 2025, we will be working with other workshops to build Gelsenkirchen's most glittering (ba)rock opera using technology, imagination, glamor and guitars. For everyone who wants to fabulate, explore and sparkle!
