"Sumurun" is a story straight out of 1001 Nights: so strange and so wise, so graceful and erotic, so treacherous and bloody. In medieval Baghdad, the love carousel is spinning: the old sheikh loves Sumurun, the most beautiful woman in his harem. But Sumurun secretly loves the cloth merchant Nur-al-Din. The sheikh's son also desires the young woman, but is rejected. This all changes when a troupe of showmen stops off in the city, including the racy dancer Zuleika and a hunchbacked juggler.
