Prinze Ÿ: STERNENWEISS

The Munich Symphony Orchestra has recorded over 400 film soundtracks, including classics such as "Das Boot" and "The Silence of the Lambs". It is therefore a natural choice to open the current Prinze Ÿ subscription series with the film music to Christopher Nolan's space epic "Interstellar". This is also the theme of the concert, cleverly conceived by chief conductor Joseph Bastian: Music and technology. Camille Saint-Saëns achieved the powerful symbiosis of a symphony orchestra and the mechanical marvel known as the organ in his Organ Symphony in 1886. As the Prinzregententheater does not have an organ, a digital model is used in keeping with the times. Sergei Prokofiev, on the other hand, makes a return to the audio-visual interface. Not only did he himself write several film scores, his Symphony No. 4 is based on an earlier ballet - and shows that high-class music can also do very well without scenery.
