He has been presenting on the Hessian radio station FFH since 1994. From 2003 to 2010, he also presented the Sat.1 breakfast show "Weck Up" on television.

In 2005, he won the "German Radio Award" in Berlin in the category "Best Presenter". He has also received several awards at the International Radio Festival in New York, including a gold medal. He has been nominated for the ECHO twice - as a "junior partner" alongside his colleague Bodo Bach, with whom he also revived old radio years together ("Die 2 Beiden") on stage in the fall of 2010. Scherer has also been performing solo on comedy and cabaret stages for over ten years.
