Straßenfest Ostkreuz bleibt bunt

In the organizer's words:

On May 8, 2025, there will be a celebration - and remembrance: the neighborhood initiative Ostkreuz bleibt bunt and the community work RuDi invite you to a street party around Annemirl-Bauer-Platz at Ostkreuz S-Bahn station. Together with neighbors, associations and friends, we want to show how vibrant diversity can be in the neighborhood - loud, colorful and in solidarity.

May 8, 2025 is a public holiday in Berlin this year, because: It is the 80th anniversary of the liberation from fascism and National Socialism. We are dedicating our festival to this occasion: in Sonntagstrasse and Lenbachstrasse. In addition to music, activities and hands-on offers on the street, there will also be a varied program with lectures and workshops in the rooms of the Landeszentrale für politische Bildung (Revaler Straße 29) and the InterKontinental bookstore (Sonntagstraße 26).

Stage & music

As befits a festival, visitors can expect a colorful stage program - from fanfare to post-punk, from singer-songwriter to 90s party!

Including: Ostrich Party - a ten-piece fanfare band will open our festival with plenty of energy and a large portion of good humor! Kecko 8 & Dragan 1022 bring sensitive rap - or as they say themselves: "Maybe the word rap is too relevant for us softies." Roy Wilde & Golda Heart, a soulful singer-songwriter duo with guitar and cello, will be a little quieter and more thoughtful. The big highlight of the evening: Gewalt - the post-punk band from the Kiez, which has long been touring internationally and is currently playing its UK tour, will be stopping by!

Join-in program

Everyone, young and old, can let off steam on a play street in Lenbachstraße. Circus Zack also invites you to join in. The State Center for Political Education offers a democracy obstacle course. The curious can try their hand at improv theater and those who want to get to know their neighbors have the opportunity to do so at Kiez-Speed-Dating.

Workshops & talks

Between beats and discussions, we want to show how to work together - in solidarity, loudly and realistically: several workshops and talks offer input and the opportunity to exchange ideas. At the workshop Stammtischkämpfer_innen by Aufstehen gegen Rassismus, participants will learn how to defend themselves against right-wing extremist slogans. Author Alex M. Gastel will read from the book Als in meinem Ausweis noch ... stand - Über den Schmerz von Deadnames und Misgendern - und wie es besser geht and answer questions afterwards. In its lecture, the Geradedenken Kollektiv will present solidarity-based coping strategies for the crises of our time in Systems in Collapse. District councillor Filiz Keküllüoğlu (Lichtenberg) answers questions from the audience during the citizens' consultation hour.

Projects and associations introduce themselves

With the festival, we want to give neighbors the opportunity to get to know offers in the neighborhood, associations and initiatives better and to get into conversation. To this end, there will be information stands from various initiatives and projects from the neighborhood and beyond between 2 and 8 pm. Among those taking part are: Lebensnah e.V., Arte Capoeira Berlin, radio connection e.V., Lostanzen, Antilope Lichtenberg, Register Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, TransFair Café and Beratungszentrum.
