"Streit & Zuversicht" Demokratie-Festival 2025

Three days with political and music stars, concerts and theater, workshops and live talks on democracy. Free offers for students, teachers and Hamburg citizens. This is Hamburg's first democracy festival at Kampnagel! You can find the entire program HERE.

Participants include Senator for Economic Affairs Melanie Leonhard and Anke Frieling, publicist Michel Friedman, former Pirate politician, author and psychologist Marina Weisband, former Federal Minister Thomas de Maizière, the former Minister President of Thuringia Bodo Ramelow, climate activist Carla Hinrichs (formerly Last Generation), journalist and presenter Anna Dushime, extremism expert Julia Ebner, Sebastian Krumbiegel, frontman of the cult band "Die Prinzen", actor Fritz Tietz, presenter Michel Abdollahi, ZDF journalist Nicole Diekmann and ZEIT journalist Heinrich Wefing, as well as the independent cult bands "Adam Angst" and "Die Goldenen Zitronen" and the theater collective "SKART & Masters of the Universe". The highlight on Saturday is the 75th anniversary Rio Reiser evening "Keine Macht für niemand!", in which Selig singer Jan Plewka and band will bring his lyrics and songs to life together with guests such as Rocko Schamoni and singer Lina Maly.

What is the future of our democracy? What does it need in times of election campaigns and coalition negotiations, Trump and co, disinformation and polarization, anti-democratic influence and international conflicts? What is the state of security in Europe and how can we make our state more capable and better able to act? What can we do as citizens? Immediately after the Hamburg parliamentary elections and the Bundestag elections, we want to discuss precisely these questions and, together with arte and in cooperation with Kampnagel, invite you to more than 30 hours of live talks, "Ask me anything" Q&A sessions and discussions with prominent politicians and experts, our successful debate format "Streit & Zuversicht", workshops for young people and school groups, a Fuck-Up Night of Democracy, theater, among others, by star director Milo by star director Milo Rau, PubQuiz and exclusive concerts and music performances. Arte is participating as a partner with its program formats "Re:" and "tracks" and will broadcast parts of the program.
