Vassili Golod is a Ukraine correspondent and has been in charge of the studio in Kiev, ARD's youngest, for two years. He was born in Kharkiv in 1993, and soon afterwards the family moved to Germany. His mother is Russian, his father Ukrainian. He initially wanted to become a professional athlete; Vassili Golod took up fencing as a child. But journalism appealed to him even more. He works for Tagesschau and Tagesthemen, among others, and goes to London and Moscow as a correspondent. Vassili Golod has been reporting from Ukraine since 2022. As studio manager, he is responsible for 20 employees. He finds the war "extremely challenging" for the team. Constant danger, hardly any rest and a chronic lack of sleep have become constant companions.
