Susanna*

In the organizer's words:

A shortened and modified version of the oratorio Susanna by George Frideric Handel will be performed. The work tells the story of the biblical figure Susanna and is therefore more topical than ever in times of discussion about inequalities in our society or the #metoo debate. The concert lasts around 1 hour and combines elements of the original Handel oratorio with a cappella music from earlier times that fits in with the Susanna narrative. The resulting new work is entitled Susanna* and is intended to raise awareness of equal rights in today's heterogeneous society. It will be performed by the professional vocal ensemble Vokalwerk Hannover(www.vokalwerkhannover.de) together with the baroque orchestra Concerto Ispirato(www.concertoispirato.de) under the overall direction of Martin Kohlmann. You can look forward to a concert of outstanding quality, which is also supported by the Ministry of Science and Culture, the NDR Music Fund, the Cultural Office of the City of Hanover, the Anja Fichte Foundation, the Edelhof Ricklingen Foundation and the Walter and Charlotte Hamel Foundation.
