After a concert by her favorite band, 16-year-old Rylee is hit by their singer Payton - her absolute crush! - is hit by a car. Luckily nothing bad happened, but his guilty conscience drives him to take her home. However, he is completely drugged up and passes out on the way. Rylee is convinced that she has to help the man of her dreams get off drugs and chains him up in the basement of her neighbor's empty house. What begins as a good deed quickly becomes an obsession. So consistent that Rylee is soon prepared to walk over dead bodies.
Emma Higgins delivers a kind of MISERY for the new generation with the dark and gripping thriller SWEETNESS. Compared to Kathy Bates' extremely selfish Annie Wilkes in the Stephen King classic, Kate Hallett's character's tour de force is much more emotional and a whole lot more brutal.
