With the "SWING GEORG" concert series, Cologne-based trumpeter Thimo Niesterok celebrates the music of the swing era in a variety of top-class line-ups.
The second concert in the "SWING GEORG" series is dedicated to Clark Terry, the incomparable trumpeter and flugelhorn player who played in the bands of Count Basie as well as Duke Ellington and Quincy Jones and was one of the most sought-after soloists of his time. In addition to virtuosity and unmistakable phrasing, his sound is characterized above all by an irrepressible and honest joy of playing that makes Clark Terry one of the most inspiring musicians in jazz history, even after his death in 2015.
As a rhythm section, you can look forward to the trio around the renowned pianist Jerry Lu, with Stefan Rey on double bass and Niklas Walter on drums.
Thimo Niesterok (*1996) is one of the outstanding voices of the young German jazz scene and, as a trumpeter, fascinates not only with his extraordinary musicality, but also with his passion for swing and mainstream jazz.
Niesterok's warm, nuanced tone and unmistakable phrasing lend his musical language a special depth that delights both long-time jazz fans and new and especially young listeners alike.
