Swing Manouche: Maria Pascual & the Kind of Gypsies

In our new Einstein series Swing Manouche, Barcelona-born singer Maria Pascual meets The Kind of Gypsies, the trio of Turin guitarist Giangiacomo Rosso. Together they once won a competition that took place as part of a Django Reinhardt festival. Maria Pascual is very familiar with the legacy that the great divas of jazz have left us. The timbre of her voice warms the heart. And it really gets going when she starts off with virtuoso scat improvisations.

Like Maria Pascual, the trio The Kind of Gypsies, led by Giangiacomo Rosso, is audibly inspired by Sinti rhythms, but also by Mediterranean dances. And so the joint program consists not only of classic jazz manouche material, but also includes passionate boleros, flamenco elements and Latin American music.
