For three years, author Frank Marten Pfeiffer accompanied the mayor of Tübingen with his camera. We witness Boris Palmer fighting for his future as a Green, breaking with the party, struggling for political survival as a lone fighter and causing outrage in the social media and the press. There are also historical archive reviews of his father, the "Remstal rebel" Helmut Palmer.

The person of Boris Palmer is a projection screen for current social conflicts: the dispute between economy and ecology, the debate about racism and wokeness, the limits of freedom of expression. Do we need provocation to make progress? How much of it can society take? After the film, SWR presenter Nicole Köster talks about this with Boris Palmer, Mayor of Tübingen, Prof. Dr. Olaf Kramer, Professor of Rhetoric and Knowledge Communication at the University of Tübingen, Frank Marten Pfeiffer (documentary author) and Sandra Müller (Head of Multimedia Editing at SWR Studio Tübingen).
