Tageskurs: Bogenbau Rattan Manau

Day course: Rattan Manau bow making

In this one-day course (10 a .m. - 5 p.m.), children (aged 10 and over), teenagers and adults build a bow that they can shoot really well with. They also learn how to handle it safely. Rattan Manau is a type of palm that is excellent to work with as it is soft and yet highly flexible.

When making our bows (see video at the bottom of this page), we learn how to use a rasp, scraper and sandpaper in a very authentic way and under expert guidance. Together we temper the bow with a flame or hot air gun so that it retains its shape later and becomes more efficient. We seal the material with high-quality tung oil to extend the durability of the bow. We then attach a bowstring and learn how to draw the bow properly. In this way, participants build their own, individually customized bows.
We pay particular attention to the appropriate draw strength so that the participants can learn the correct technique later on.

The price includes the construction of three arrows and a short introductory course so that participants can continue to enjoy archery at home. We place particular emphasis on safety during the introduction. A personal bow passport helps you to integrate what you have learned into your everyday life.

In addition to independent, safe handling of bow and arrow, we also gain confidence in our own manual skills and self-confidence grows.
