Tamara (Linda Pöppel), born in 1990, returns to her home village in Brandenburg after a long absence to celebrate her father Karl's (Jörg Witte) birthday. There she discovers that her parents want to give up the family estate. Karl's sudden death forces Tamara to confront her family history and causes her to clash with her mother (Lina Wendel), who has concealed a lot about the GDR era from her daughter. A mother-daughter conflict reflects the challenges of the post-reunification generation and the search for identity in a changing Germany.
