"How dancing strengthens our brain and helps us to age healthily", Dr. Miranka Wirth
Music triggers emotions, awakens memories, makes us tap our feet and gets us going - it connects body and mind in a unique way. But what happens in our brains and bodies when we listen to music, dance to it or associate memories with it? In this tandem tour with historian Ulrike Just, Dr. Miranka Wirth, neuroscientist at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) Dresden, sheds light on the fascinating connections between music, movement and our brains. She will show how a multimodal approach, i.e. the combination of music, movement and mindfulness, can improve the brain's resistance to ageing processes and Alzheimer's disease. It also provides information on how everyone can actively contribute to their own health through Arts-for-Health - through dance, movement and mindfulness exercises.
