And suddenly 30 years have passed since The Slapstickers started out as an up-and-coming ska band. Full of passion for offbeats, catchy melodies and exciting harmonies. Nothing has changed at all to this day. However, the band has long since fulfilled their dreams from back then: Countless festival and club shows, gigs with Madness and The Skatalites, numerous studio albums, a live album and a big band album and, most recently, contributions to the legendary "Ska... Ska... Skandal!" -sampler and a tribute compilation for The Hotknives. But it was time for a new album, which is now being released to mark the band's 30th anniversary: with the impetuous punch of 1995, but well matured, sometimes gentle and thoughtful - just like a silverback. That's The Slapstickers with their new album "Silverback".

Seven-piece band presents homemade music from Trier in its anniversary year. Borders - in whatever form - are not Spy Kowlik's thing, and so the glorious seven rock their way through the genre garden, peppered with razor-sharp brass riffs, and trample the garden fence with caracho. References? You could name them, but you don't have to, because at almost 20 years old, the boy has left adolescence behind him and is going his own way.
The band's history also seems limitless, because in their 20th year they are fresher than ever and it is rumored that the band wants to give themselves and their fans a new album for their milestone birthday. Some of the new songs are likely to be heard live, and there will be no shortage of earlier classics from four releases on stage. Speaking of live: Spy Kowlik is completely herself on stage and gives her all - if you feed her after 12 o'clock, then nothing stands in the way of a collective escalation.
