Tastenfest: 1.000 Finger fliegen übers Klavier

In the organizer's words:

On November 22, 2024, the third "Tastenfest" will take place at the Freiburg University of Music. Between one and 16 pianists will perform simultaneously on the large concert stage on up to ten grand and upright pianos - 160 fingers flying over more than 1,000 keys in precise coordination! The first part of the concert includes the overture from Gioachino Rossini's opera "Semiramide" in an arrangement for eight pianos and Steve Reich's meditative piece "Six Pianos" from 1973. Johann Sebastian Bach's "The Art of Fugue" will be performed on a toy piano and a 16th-note piano, among other instruments. In the second part of the concert, the audience can decide for themselves what kind of piano music they would like to hear in one of the four "salons": Do they prefer virtuoso music, contemporary music, improvisations or pieces by composers from other parts of the world? Students and teachers from the university will be playing.
