The (___) Gallery presents: SEASON 2 - "RESISTANCE"
May 10-17, 2025 | Oberhafenquartier, Hamburg
Before Pride became a corporate-sponsored parade,
before rainbow logos ran through marketing strategies,
before queerness was celebrated - it was fought against.
On June 28, 1969, in the early hours of the morning at the Stonewall Inn in New York, the queer community said: enough is enough. They stood up to brutal police violence, state harassment and social erasure. Not quietly. Not politely. But determined, loud, fierce - and deeply necessary. This moment was more than a riot. It was the beginning of a movement. A collective act of self-assertion. An outcry that still resonates today.
"RESISTANCE" is our reminder that queer existence has never just been celebrated, but has always been fought for - and still is. The hate is growing. Violence is escalating. Political regression is a reality. But our resistance is also alive.
Where there is darkness, there is light. Where extinction threatens, visibility emerges. Where fear reigns, courage grows.
This exhibition is more than art. It is a statement. A refusal of silence. An invitation to take a closer look. It shows queer perspectives that cannot be smoothed over. Bodies that do not conform. Stories that are allowed to remain uncomfortable. Art that does not ask for permission.
It is personal, vulnerable, political - and deeply human. In a world that often tolerates queer identities but rarely really understands them, this exhibition is an invitation: To look. To listen. To feel.
"RESISTANCE" is not a decorative theme. It is a reality. We don't just show works. We show attitude. Against forgetting. For a future in which justice and freedom are non-negotiable. For spaces in which queer art is not an exception, but a matter of course. For a community that is not based on equality, but on diversity.
With love.
With vulnerability.
With hope.
With unstoppable resistance.
