About:

The duo is an intimate, fragile and exciting form of musical interplay. In the concert series "The Art of the Duo", the art of the duo will be presented in various combinations. Temporary sound experiments, dialogs, dialogues, parallel developments or even three-dimensional sound structures will be created. Liz Kosack meets the Bremen musicians Isabelle Raphaelis (flute, electroncis) and Mattia Bonafini (synths, electronics).

About the artists:

Liz Kosack is a synthesizer player and make-up artist from Berlin. She has performed with countless partners in experimental music scenes in Europe, New York and worldwide. With masks and visual works she creates and overcomes questions of identity. As a synthesizer player, she strives for organic expression in her unique work and expands the possibilities of electronic instruments. She received the prestigious SWR Jazz Prize in 2019. zardkom.com

In addition to traditional playing in orchestras and chamber music formations, flautist Isabelle Raphaelis is dedicated to the search for new concert formats and soundscapes. In addition to the additional use of her voice, performative elements or playing with effects, the focus is always on the fragile moment of immediate self-expression, which attempts to build bridges, to experience a moment together and unfiltered, and then to let it go again.

Mattia Bonafini (synths, electronics) works in the fields of composition, improvisation, electroacoustic music and performance. He explores the contamination of different musical genres and combines them with other practices such as text and visual art.

A workshop will take place on 22nd March from 11-16h. Attendance at the concert is included when booking the workshop.
